You should be more careful of what kind of behavior you defend.

Odd. Normally half this board seems to be people making excuses for monsters, but that's another story.

Nobody is excusing Foley, but the cover-up narrative the Democrats have been trying to sell isn't holding up very well either. The story they tried to sell originally didn't have any 18-year-olds within a parsec of it, and "16" was the operative age.

What's going to end up coming out is that Democrats knew about this stuff at least as long as Republicans did, knew the sources, and held it back for political gain. That's pretty much going to be the end of the "Death To Hastert" story, although you'll see the media gin up some other anti-Hastert stuff to try and fill the gap.

As for the Foley story, what's going to come out of that is going to be even messier. The gist of it will be that much of it involves gays on Capitol Hill running interference for other gays out of solidarity, and not just Foley.

Anybody have anything to say about David Corn's "I have a list in my hand" gag, a list of closeted DC gays? Are you aware that this list is being circulated around by what Corn for some strange reason has to call "gay people of a non-Republican bent" instead of Democrats?

This isn't going to fit neatly into the Democratic playbook, and you're going to see some serious sweating in the next few weeks on that issue, especially when Democrats look up at the sign they're holding and suddenly realize to their horror that it says "Get The Gays Out Of Government."
