1994 Republicanism...

Was represented mostly by Gingrich and the new crowd in the House after 1994. Unfortunately, little of this mood was reflected by Republicans in the Senate, who even then were more "Good Old Boy Network" than Reagan Republicans. The Contract With America flattened itself against the Senate, and I don't recall right now if any of it got far enough down the line for Clinton to veto.

The Senate has never been a stronghold of the classic conservative Republican, and after 12 years, with a few exceptions, the Republicans in the House weren't doing that well either.
