...it scares the heck out of folks. Sorry.
How many decades have passed since the x-rays? Probably 3 or more right? Ionizing radiation effects are cumulative so they don't go away. The odds are your foot bones and ankles have probably received pretty high dosages of ionizing gamma radiation. But if you were a kid, your bones were also still growing so lots of new calcium was added to existing foot bones as they grew reinforcing any parts where the bones might've been weakened.
You're probably fine. The danger zone for something bad happening was likely decades ago, when the dosage was fresh. The primary dangers, of course, were leukemia and bone cancer. And not knowing how strong those old machines were it is hard to gauge the dosage one received for each x-ray.
I think I had my feet x-rayed at the Buster Brown stores about 3 or 4 times. Fortunately, I spent my time reading the lame Buster Brown comic book they put out rather than playing on the machines and more often than not my folks went to Kinney shoes, which didn't have the machines.
If it's any comfort, I had for several years an old clock radio dosing me slowly with very low level gamma radiation from the radium painted dials. I'm still in one piece and with no demonstrable adverse effects. But once I realized it, I disposed of it. Tens, possibly hundreds, of millions of people experienced the same things we have - radium painted clocks, foot x-rays and we all went to school in buildings chock full of asbestos. Asbestos tiles, asbestos roofing, asbestos board in the walls - all when asbestos was still viewed as a miracle mineral that resisted fire. Today glossy magazine covers also emit radiation. Even our toilets and other ceramic objects dose us with very low level radiation from the clays and minerals used in their composition each time we use them. So if you read a glossy magazine while using the facilities you are actually being dosed with radiation all the while! And we've survived it all. The human body is very resilient. I suspect most astronauts have received up to 50 times as much gamma and cosmic radiation as we have and still have lived to a ripe old age.
The message here is the same as above, namely fear and hysteria seldom helps anything and usually makes things worse. Once we know something is bad we take corrective measures, but we need to know and understand exactly what it is. If everyone who visited Buster Brown started having foot trouble - a response could be to get rid of all Buster Brown shoes. But that would have been a faulty assumption and missed the real culprit.
Taking corrective measures that end up not being corrective, but which may speed up any global warming would be a tragedy suitable for the ancient Greeks to honor with a 3 part play.
