According to E = M * the speed of light squared, Energy can be extracted from matter. We have proven this with atomic bombs. In theory, we should be able to get matter from energy. If this is true, then they must be connected, and I think that connection is that at the smallest level, they are the same.
Mind you, I am not a physicist, all thou I did take a few Physics classes in college.
Kinetic energy is the energy mass in motion has. In a vacuum with no gravity it should be the same as the energy it took to get it going.
Potential energy, say a rock up on a hill is dependent on a force for its energy. In this case, gravity. If you put that rock up there, it took you body’s energy to get it up there.
I can think of a case where potential energy of a rock on a hill may never be used. Say it is on a small asteroid, and the asteroid gets blasted apart in a collision, sending that rock flying off into space. It had potential energy, but its potential energy source, the asteroid’s gravity, has been destroyed.

- It's a stretch,
- Do the electrons of an Atom truly “circle†the atom’s nucleus? If so, aren’t they then in perpetual motion?
- Not really
- re: note that if true, we could then define Energy, Mass, and gravity all in one equation!
- The formula would look something like:
- Do the electrons of an Atom truly “circle†the atom’s nucleus? If so, aren’t they then in perpetual motion?
- I doubt gravity is in any way electrical.

- I think gravity is to weak a force to be THE force that holds or creates or "makes rigid" matter from energy.

- Not in the sense that most people think of electricity
