re: Okay, you lost me.

Oh, don't play stupid. Under the provisions of the patriot act, such start-of-term firings can now be used to bypass the congressional approval process.

As a properly tangential issue (IE, lets be clear- you are drawing a red herring)

I am unaware of the 'commonality' of this act. If it is true (which I don't think it is), then at best you have a 'bububut Mommy! They did it too!' type argument. And 'they' sure as hell did not do it in such a way to deny congressional oversight to the replacements.

And beyond that: if nothing wrong or notable happened, as you so claim, why are people getting fired over it and why were consistent efforts made at every level to deny what took place? Doesn't add up.

I think once again you are arguing the 'layer cake' defense (which is only one step more intelligent than the 'chewbaka' defense)- as with other issues in the past with this executive. If one argument fails (NuUh! We didn't do it!), find another one (Oh, well, um, maybe we did... But its not wrong to do what we did)... and also cast aspesions on someone else (BuBuBut Mommy! They did it too/first!)
