It flies less than 40 feet above the water. That limits its maneuverability. And if something hits the water at Mach 3, it would be like hitting a brick wall. The trick would be raising a wall of water to protect the ship. Sounds far-fetched, but I've seen it done. I think. Using large heavy objects.
