But my idea would be re-usable. Think about it: a carrier is out in the middle of the ocean, it has alot of water to work with. Imagine a ring of devices floating in the water surrounding the ship, at a certain stand-off distance, and designed to throw up a 50-foot high wall of water. If the water has enough inertia, then when the missile hits it, it might detonate prematurely without even touching the ship.
