Don't muddy the waters...

There are ecologists, naturalists and the like who were in tune with preserving nature, particularly choice spots and then there is "environmentalism" which was all inclusive and designed to act as a catchall for any criticism of consumption and has always embraced anti-capitalist rhetoric and propaganda.

There's a far cry from Rachel Carson, a self-described naturalist, to today's rabid anti-America, anti-Western environmentalist. It's hard to believe, but oh so telling that - the environmentalists now package Rachel Carson's Silent Spring alongside the Communist Manifesto in the "manifesto" series! They threw the Declaration of Independence in there, to round ot the "manifesto" just to distract any folks from putting two and two together. But the fact they even chose to use the word manifesto speaks volumes, as it embraces the word and by it's mere association attempts to denigrate the Declaration down to the level of the communist manifesto.

"Curb your purchases" environmentalism definitely dates to the big industrial boom in America and the height of the cold war. "You don't need stuff" mantra was born and at the same time the word "consumer" was born to replace the "customer". Before "consumption" had been associated with a disease, TB ;-), and so the negative psychological association was quite sufficient.

When one sees behind all these little psychological tricks, and sees how easily many are hooked and indoctrinated by them, it is saddening. And yet our freedom, here in the USA, is what makes our population so susceptible to the ideologues of all flavors who do not have our, or the world's, true best interests at heart and who use environmentalism as a tool to empower themselves and control others.
