I pretty much yield the HIV issue at this time. When I first looked into it several years ago, the data was very unclear in the sense that ethnic differences in sexual paractice was not sufficiently accounted for. If new studies are able to make that differentiation, then I'm willing to buy the idea- but I can't really comment until I look into it again, and that takes real time.

However, it must be noted that dropping the chance of you getting HIV by a few percent is not the same as an 'effective preventative measure'. Currently, the only effective measure is the regular use of a condom. Until African societies accepts this and acts accordingly, and until there is adequate governmental support and distribution of condoms is in place, then AIDS will continue to ravage Africa.
