Many of our problems are due to having a tax system concerned more with income redistribution and social engineering than on raising revenue for running government services. An across the board flat tax would go a long way in correcting many of our problems. It could be either an income or sales tax just as long as it affected EVERYONE equally.
A 10% income tax with no loopholes or tax breaks. If you made $10,000/yr you would pay $1,000/yr in taxes. If you made $1,000,000,000/yr you would pay $100,000,000/yr in taxes. A flat rate would make the system very streamline and extremely efficient. If we got back to taxing individuals as opposed to non entities like businesses or corporations, we'd eliminate much of the corruption.

Too bad the tax system has been twisted and perverted.
