first let me say that I think more people should be licensed to carry.
However, these people do not realize how difficult it is to hit a single target, especially when that target is in a room full of innocent bystanders.
Look at how many people escaped this single armed individual in relatively closed off and close proximity to the other victims...He was shooting at random, and granted, he hit and killed a lot of people; however, I would be interested in seeing how many people he missed completely...
A hand gun, even a glock (which is probably one of the best out there) is not accurate from anything more than 20-30 yards...Especially when someone is shooting back at you!
Having a gun in your possession does not guarantee that you can defend yourself and others...
You must be VERY PROFICIENT with the gun to effectively defend yourself. Otherwise, you will be many more times likely to Hurt yourself and others than to actually stop a mass murderer.
This whole thing is fortunately a very rare occurance... Arming students, teachers, etc... is not going to solve the next rare occurance.
Maybe student just need to go through Marine Hand-to-hand combat training before we let them sit at a desk... Seriously, that is just as rational an answer as bringing guns into the classroom.
