"What is done to us as children haunts us for the rest of our lives."
No shit shinola.
Why just last week I was doing a little Asheville processing and came across TWO defining events that I was holding on to as a young gitl and that were making me miserable. One I recognized and had "worked through", the other I had totally forgotten.
But the latter was a "daddy" issue, and without going into anything personal; it came rumbling out from my emotional depths and I realized I had never nurtured the little girl in me that had to grow up really fast.
I pushed it away, folded it up.
So, when I finally got to recognize her pain and lonliness, I acknowledged her and brought her along for the ride.
With any luck, she'll catch up.
