Darlin', you're not the one damaged; your parents are. And they have tried to pass it on to you. Since I know you and don't think you are the least bit like them, you are a wonderful success story, someone who overcame the sh-t that was heaped upon her.
You are compiling a good report card. ;-)
The older I get, the more I realize how very damn lucky I was to have parents who loved me and nurtured me without even knowing they did. Hell, I didn't know it until looking at it in retrospect. What they did, they did from love.
