I was in preschool, they had this nice magnifying glass- I had spent most of the day pretending to be Sherlock Holmes (How the hell I knew who he was I do not know)... I would use it to solve 'crimes' that I made up.... I remember that it was fun as hell, anyways it got me thinking about crime and criminals... Later that day my dad was driving me home- I questioned him about crime and why people do it, I specifically asked about stealing... as we were talking I felt something in my coat pocket and I pulled it out- it was the magnifying glass from the preschool...

Now, I understand that an adult would have assumed- given that I was asking about stealing- that I had INTENTIONALLY taken that magnifying glass ... But honestly, I had just put it in my pocket and forgotten about it- it really was an innocent mistake, and the only reason I was questioning my father about stealing is because I had been pretending to be a 'crime solver'...

My parents made me go in the next day and apologize for 'stealing' the magnifying glass- it was about the third time in my life that I realized that the world was not fair
