Yes. Does it need to be? Yes. In this country, you've got to scream loud and long to be heard. We've been in major somnambulism over health care for years while the system has gone downhill.

I've got mine but I'd like everybody else to have theirs, too. We're either a modern civilized country where we take care of one another or we're an uncaring mock civilization that will go the way of Rome sooner rather than later.

It used to be that families took care of one anther and prices for health care were reasonable; people had to stretch their resources to use it but it wasn't out of the question. Now, without health care, if someone has a major illness, they're screwed. The extended family of a hundred years ago doesn't exist. The government has to take its place. We just have to find the best way. It isn't profit-based insurance.
