We're not far off belive me

I'm just tired of continuing failed policies. I don't for a moment believe that there's anything positive about Castro. The only reason I think that the travel restrictions need to be lifted is that they just haven't worked. The guy is living and thriving under them.

You have an insight into conditions in Cuba because you have a history there but none of the rest of us get to see it firsthand and the people of Cuba don't get to see us. I think the latter is the most damaging because closed societies that control their media can portray outsiders as they wish if there's no evidence to the contrary.

I'd like to think that my family interacting with the Cuban people would be a positive thing that could cause the inhabitants to see that the negative propaganda Castro surely puts out about Americans is just a load of crap.

Marcia, I know for a fact that your philosophy about this is generated by the best of intentions but look at our history. In almost every instance where we tried to insert ourselves into the evolution of a society or government we ended up making things worse. If Cuba's going to become a better place to live, I really think it has to come from within. How does us staying out of there help that come about?
