Don't try to twist my words, thank you

I don't hold the study of such phenomena in contempt. In fact I
honestly wish more mainstream scientists would look into these
things - but if their findings came up negative, would they be
rejected out of hand by the fringe community, as I suspect?

What I do find myself very disappointed about is the way it is gone
about and usually by whom: A bunch of amateurs, many of whom
seem to be well meaning but do not have the necessary background
or the discrimination skills to separate fact from fiction or even
outright fraud.

Don't try to turn this into a personal attack on you, because I am
not going there. You just happen to be the most visible and vocal
"representative" of the fringe phenomenon movement on this forum.
So naturally my comments are going to gravitate towards you.

A little more rationality and a lot less emotionalism - that's what else
is required for those who pursue that which is outside the mainstream.
Neither science nor the public will take you seriously otherwise.

But you seem to take a lot of this on faith due to some experience
you vaguely mention, so how do you expect anyone to accept what
you say based on your experience and your word? If I said I saw
an alien spaceship land in my backyarrd and the crew abducted me,
would you believe me just because I said it happened? I would hope
you would want a little more than that.

BTW, the above never happened, just to be clear on that.
