re: Tourist dollars

My thought was that the influx of tourists would be a short term benefit for the town's economy.

I've always been a skeptic and look critically at UFOs and crop circles etc. Actually I used to believe in ETs but highly doubt their existence now.

There is one experience I had a few years ago still brings a smile to my face. I was heading to Oregon with a full load of Christmas presents and the alternator on my wifes car seized 40 miles down the road. I pulled over into a park and popped the hood and knew right away what had happened.

Just then someone in a Dodge diesel pulled up next to me. "Oh great" I thought, some yahoo wanting to tell me what was wrong. I look up and it was my co-worker 'Gary'. He had a smile on his face and jumped out to give me a hand. He had been waiting accross the street to meet his son for breakfast.

Short story short, he drove me to the next town and the parts store there had one alternator for my wife's older car in stock. We had it in and running and the whole episode took 45 minutes.

I know RL and others would say this was just coincidence but I'd like to think there was a guiding hand somewhere. I do try to keep an open mind.
