You couldn't be any further off, oh sheltered Techster

To begin with, sex with love is a recent historical invention only made possible by the medieval Courtly Love Tradition and the increase in literacy that propagated it. Sex without love is civilized man's natural state, most marriages have always been prearranged affairs and more about family politics and economics than sex or love or even lust. Women were sheltered not to protect them, but to maximize their bride-price and minimize their dowry. They were a family commodity on the open market.

Primitive tribes may have been sexually open, but once agriculture took over the family had to make sure the land was divided equitably amongst the kids; it soon became extremely important to know who your father really was. Morality had nothing to do with it, it was who got the farm.

Birth control, or at least, attempts to control birth, have been around for as long as we've thought we understood the biology of reproduction. And for pretty much the same reasons we use it today. The Egyptians practiced it, so did everyone else. And homosexuality was widespread throughout the ancient world, at least in our WESTERN civilization. Only the ancient Hebrews seemed to be really against it for religious reasons, which is where we got out cultural aversion to it. The ancient Greeks were notorious buggers and the Romans were so bisexual they didn't even have a word in their language for "homosexual". (The word is Latin, but it is a recent invention).

And masturbation has been with us from the very beginning. Haven't you ever heard of Onan the Barbarian?
