The keyword is "whole". The "main" Idea is to be as profitable as possible. Achieving this goal is often in conflict with "wholeness".

I would assume that starting a business is a whole lot riskier than investing in it's growth.

So do you side with Bravado, or with caution and fear? I don't know anyone that started a business with tiny cajones.
