So what's in it for them?

It must be cultural. I can see the motivation to have my own business to give myself the freedom to work as I chose, to make my own decisions and build the kind of product I wanted. But I simply don't see the reason to expand and grow just for growth's sake.

I can see there are social benefits, but for my own taste, once my own financial security is assured and my personal need to produce useful and productive work is satisfied (and that is, I believe, a human character trait, people work hard even when they have no need to), I would have no further need to continue adding to it. Does an entrepreneur have a social responsibility to do that? I find that too socialistic even for me.

I sympathized with the Asian guy, I found it offensive that he was being portrayed as a slacker.
