re: Oddly, I don't see it that way...

Oh, I'll be the first to admit that there are lots of guilty parties on both sides on here that use the introduction of topics as a springboard to thrust their political ideology but at least most are a bit more subtle about it. When they're not I call them on that as well. Ask Bowser and Lindy about the rebukes I've given them for the same tactics.

You basically are saying "Since everyone does it. It's OK". Maybe I should try that tactic with my children.

That line that Gbakie used was a Flame pure and simple. It was a stretch at best to even link it to the topic he brought up. Let's analyze it for a second. He brings up the fact that the installation of cameras monitoring public places has not brought down the crime rate and somehow that shows a leniency to evil? I would think, if "the left" were the perpetrators to installing the cameras with the intent to minimize crime, that would hardly show them to be lenient towards evil. Inept maybe but intent seems to point the other way.

And "the left" as we know it (and we know by his past posts that he's not targeting Lenin and Pol Pot) installing cameras and being ineffective in their intent hardly shows an authoritarian side to it. Logic would say that an authoritarian state equipped with spy cameras would be effective at controlling crime because they'd be using them to invade the privacy of all. It's probably the fact that the government understands the concepts of civil liberties and privacy that makes their use less than completely effective.

What a crock Nick.
