Individuals who denigrate the subject are lazy thinkers or adamant personalities who think they have life wrapped up in the nice little packages they are living in.
It also gives them a sense of superiority (read: EGO) to put anyone else down in front of others. It's a form of bullying. You see them in politics too, and many other venues.
We have quite a few here who are so cock-sure of themselves, that they use this subject to wave around this superiority, not quite realizing how truly unscientific they really are.
I'm used to them. They have no arguments, only bluster and put downs.
