re: An interesting thought.

The idea on Judas is intriguing. As I remember, the idea of him being a pawn, a broken egg in the omelet of Salvation, was a major plot point in the rock opera, "Jesus Christ, Superstar."

Calling our government "Christian extremist" is inane by any standard. We've gone over this before.

The idea of Thanksgiving in schools, when I was a kid, was largely in showing how two cultures got along. It was often emphasized that without the help of the Indians, the Pilgrims would have been in serious trouble. The Indians were presented as doing this out of generosity and nobility, and the theme of the dinner, to which the Indians were invited, was usually shown as a small payment for this kindness. This probably had more significance back when Indians were often just the faceless bad guys in the movies.

Maybe this wasn't always historically accurate, and there's certainly nothing wrong with scrubbing the myths and teaching all the facts in our schools. But the point being made in the old days wasn't a bad one, and the new curriculum shouldn't be yet another thinly-disguised West-hating excercise.
