To me, I would have called SDAI "persnickity".
I guess it's all in the expression.
I can SEE where he's coming from, but it does seem myopic.
I think it's his conservative gag reflex against what he sees as liberals attacking against his cherished beliefs.

I think there are more complaints this time around because of the foibles of Bush's war in Iraq tht have brought about much of this criticism. SDAI takes it personally and twists his anger around PORTRAYAL of the liberal mindset. It's not the conservative mindset we are railing about, it's more the of the Christian Right and it's hypocritical morals driving these new conservatives (same as the old conservatives).

My dinner date last night had some good ideas, I mean he almost "got some right", but there was something about his certainty and underlying disdain for anything liberal that was quite off-putting. I mean, he was sitting next to one all night (me). You would think he had the common sense not to offend me. Even in polite conversation. Of course, I tried to de-activate him early by mentioning I was Canadian and couldn't vote down here, therefore giving him the IMPRESSION that I was neutral and didn't care. The barrage of liberal hating comments that followed almost made me choke.

I forgot to mention, when I asked him why we weren't taking care of the oppressed in Africa (versus liberating "5 million Iraqi and Afganistan women), he responded with "What RESOURCES do they have to offer us?" This was after he had loudly stated to me and the whole restaurant "What? You want the rest of the world to live in the dark ages? "

BTW, this handsome, loud mouth, dyed-in-the-wool conservative called me promptly at 9am this morning to apologize for last night. (Obviously he wants to see me again.....LOL) He said he was a "political animal". I told him I was too but I don't usually bring it up in polite conversation. I don't know if I could suffer another go around with this bore. I mean his screensaver is Thomas Sowell.
