I used to be opposed to the idea but...

I really have no problem with it so long as the card has a photo and doubles as a driver license.

I believe in individual freedom, but sometimes we forget that as part of that we need to be identifiable as individuals. (Not in everything, but in some things: Like the right to vote or to reside on one side of a border or another.)
