Time we got out of the Middle Ages

>"Is he saying because he's a Baptist that he doesn't believe there is intelligent life elsewhere? If he did encounter an ETI, would it shatter his world view?"

A belief in Christ is that there is this "heaven", this "otherworld" out there that lovingly protects us. To view an unidentified craft larger than we could develop and outside our range of expertise, is frightening. All of a sudden, we lose our psychological protection, our belief in religion. "If Jesus Christ is my saviour, then who the hell is piloting THAT craft and how can I save myself from it? Where's Jesus?" Sorta thing.

And I lean towards an advance in our military technology as well. However, the Cash Lundrum case in Texas in 1980 has never been fully explained either. Those women were burned by radiation from the craft, and military helicopters were accompanying it as well.
There was a complete cover-up then. Somehow, I don't think our military has the right to produce these enormous craft and fly them over civilian populations, so what exactly is happening <here.>
