I live just a few miles south of New Caney. I used to teach at Dayton. I have been down FM 1485 many times. The area was very wooded in the 1980’s and still is to some extent.

We often get military air craft flying overhead from Fort Hood (Killeen) to Edward’s Air Force base (NASA).

Folks around here used to talk about that story, but I have not heard anyone mention it in years.

I am trying to remember what I was doing in December 29.1980. At the time, I was living about a mile from where I am now, so I was not too far from where this happened (about 10 miles). At that time, I was 13 years old. I had a telescope and spent many nights star gazing. It is possible I was in Texarkana that night- as I spent many holidays up there. I wish I could remember.

As for the Travis Lake UFO, podrock may be on to something. BTW, that is a beautiful clear lake. It has is turquoise blue, thanks to its limestone bed. If you are ever in Austin, go eat at that restaurant. The food is okay but the atmosphere is excellent.
