I think Obama's message is very Reagan-like...

Obama is speaking the language of "a shining city on the hill".

The Republicans will have a problem if all they offer is the negative message of "Obama is a stupid simpleton."

Just as Reagan was no simpleton, so is Obama no simpleton.
