This kind of basic, molecular-level economics should be learned by Americans in frigging grade school. Does anyone remember Junior Achievement? It's still in business, but I have never heard it brought up in any of my kid's schools. How about businessmen coming to schools to show how things are made? Field trips to factories and farms?
Instead, we are teaching our kids that businesses are evil, private enterprise is the enemy, wealth corrupts, and that only our beloved government can save us from chaos and fulfill all our needs. If we give it enough power and money, of course.
Social skills, multiculturalism, groupthink, a sense of entitlement, and other things proper to being a good ward of the state are emphasized. Not quite so much math, science, and independent thinking.
It's hard to believe it's entirely a coincidence that the government runs our schools.
Good God, national health care is considered the PREMISE now. All that's left is hashing out the details on how we're going to screw up the last major source of advanced health care and technology on the planet.
