Naive, perhaps...

...but in a good way. Can't fault you for hoping for a peaceful resolution, especially when the crowd had its heart set on the most violent and bloody resolution it could get. People who equate pacifism with cowardice haven't a clue what it takes to be a voice of calm in the midst of a national lynch mob. When the berserker rage takes hold, it's as dangerous to get between the berserker and his enemy as it is to be his enemy.

Whether a person should feel abashed about getting a prediction wrong can sometimes depend on the nature of the prediction. I think that in the case of your prediction, perhaps it's George W. Bush who should be ashamed of not meeting your high expectations. You had a lot of confidence in him when you wrote that, and you aren't the only one whose faith he betrayed.

Never stop looking for that silver lining.
