re: I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

McCain has a lot of good personal qualities, but like Nixon (who didn't), his political philosophy is very loosely tied down, and he also seems willing to accept a lot of things other people tell him without much filtering.

Already he's guzzling the global warming Kool-Aid by the gallon, which should make a lot of liberals happy. He still stinks on immigration.

But you see TB...this is what makes him so appealing to the huge blocs of moderates that ride the winds of public opinion and themselves have no hard opinions politically. His immigration bill will win him a huge number of hispanic votes that won't trust Obama, even with the NM Governor as a running mate. McCain is a proven sellout and that's a huckuva selling point to that demographic.

His foreign policy status is good--for now. Who knows what he might think a year from now?

I have no idea how he's going to screw up before the election, but I wouldn't bet against him doing it.

The fact that HE is the nominee this year shows how weak conservatism is and how this is the year of the socialist. Hillary? Not socialist enough.

Voted "Person Most Likely To Shove A Six-Gun Down His Own Pants And Empty The Chambers."

Again, this only loses him the small percentage of folks swift enough to care - an increasingly smaller demographic. The way the demographics are changing in the US, McCain could start a trend of self-castration and folks would be filming themselves and posting it on youtube.

;-)

McCain will downplay conservatism and run as a moderate. Which is only true - he's definitely NOT a conservative and not really a Republican other than in name.

But who are conservatives going to vote for...Obama?
