Don't read too much into it.
I get a lot of amusement from shooting down a wide range of "everybody knows" things that are not only firmly held by people on this board, but even driving national policies. Most people today just know beyond the shadow of a doubt that Greenland is seriously melting.
It's not much work--I had that bookmarked from a while ago--and it keeps people on their toes. If someone popped up with "dark side of the Moon" everybody and their cat here would jump on it.
