The famous "spoonerism" is a related phenomenon. What really sucks is when such a brain fart results in your saying something obscene, or grossly inappropriate.
A major advantage to communicating by text like this is the ability to check your work before firing it off. Boy, do I wish I could have done that with some verbal shots...
