I don't know if this has anything to do with anything here, but, my daughter and I have adopted a set of four Blue Jays along with their mother, who looks awfully tired.

The mom doesn't mind peanuts in the shell, but her offspring prefer to eat when the peanuts are off the shell and minced. So, my daughter and I offered to help in the shelling and mincing. It's been two weeks now and all of her offspring are fine as well as the mother.

We have a bird bath and change the water regularly. The mom has come and her offspring have followed her and mimicked her and thankfully, they drank water while we all suffered a drought.

Bottom line, give someone an opportunity and they will follow suit, or not, it's their choice.
