Not just poverty of body, but of mind which is the worst kind of poverty.
What makes it even sadder for the even halfways intelligent observer is that those who are so impoverished are wholly unaware of it. Travel to the 3rd world and most are accustomed to their lot and lives. They may acknowledge their economic poverty, but seldom recognize their mental one.
Those poor in mind will always need an Obama to lead them. To exploit them and to 'champion' them. The names will change, but the roles remain the same. Gracchi and plebes by any other name.
Throughout history the curse of the slow witted is to be a servant of the quick witted. What makes it so full of pathos is the first person that comes along and tries to free them, teach them to be self-supporting and self-sufficient is the first person they turn on.
They deserve an Obama. And Obama only deserves the likes of his supporters.
