http://billayers.wordpress.com/2008/04/21/clarifying-the-facts-a-letter-to-the-new-york-times-9-15-2001/ Let's not hear any more nonsense about Ayers's lack of regret for the use of bombs. He is not sorry he opposed the Vietnam War, but that's different.
But this is, of course, beside the point. The McCain campaign is attempting to tie Barack Obama to terrorism because he was involved in local Chicago community affairs at the same time as Ayers, when both men lived in the city.
All the distractions in the world about fictional abortion clinic bombers will not change what the McCain campaign is trying to do. Their candidate is losing on the issues. Their candidate tried to co-opt Obama's message of change without much success, reminding at least me of Wendell Wilkie. The only thing remaining is to discredit their opponent. They are using thin innuendo to do it.
This isn't about Ayers. Ayers is only a means to an end.
