Where is the list of journalists whose requests about Obama's documents have been denied, so that they may be asked about the nature of their inquiries?
John McCain associated personally with Keating often while Keating was hip-deep in malfeasance and while McCain was a Senator. (I believe the findings which indicated that McCain was unaware of Keating's activities.) Barack Obama worked on a project that was funded by a grant obtained through an application upon which Ayers worked. Obama also accepted a small social favor -- a coffee reception -- from Ayers at the beginning of his career.
Keating committed his crimes while McCain knew him and when they were both grownups. Ayers committed his crimes when Obama did not know him and was a child.
The article you cite wishes to make something of the fact that McCain apologized for associating with a criminal while an adult, even by accident, whereas Obama has not apologized for associating with a former criminal whose crimes were committed while Obama was a child.
The McCain campaign is using this tenuous connection to paint Obama as a friend of terrorists. (Listen to the pit bull.) Using the same logic, we can say that John McCain is a racist and a segregationist because he doubtless, in his many years in the Republican Senate caucus, had coffee at least once with Jesse Helms.
This is utterly without value, except as a tool to distract from the issues and use the chief Republican strategy once again: fear of terrorism. Any terrorist will do, apparently, even one who has long ago abandoned the practice.
