re: I have heard the original piece floating around Youtube

Taxation is intended to fund the legitimate functions of a government (we could argue another time about what those should be). It is no more inherently "redistribution of wealth" than me buying a quart of milk at the store is.

It is not redistribution of wealth to pay a state road worker to build a highway from gasoline taxes, pay a teacher in a school from school taxes, or a soldier in our military from income taxes.

Redistribution of wealth is, to oversimplify, taxing some citizens to give money to other citizens in return for no service whatsoever. At the far end of the curve, this essentially renders them wards of the state, and, not by accident, captive voters.

Over half of the Federal budget falls into this category.

It's obviously a bit more complex than that, but putting NASA, the military, and welfare into the same category indicates that you should really stay away from economic issues.

I've heard the term "economic justice" since I was in college. I knew what it meant back then, who was using the term, and what their goals were. I know the same things now.
