But there were no WMDs. There never were any WMDS. There was no Al-Quaeda in Iraq until well after we showed up.

The invasion was going to be a pushover, they would welcome us with open arms. It would be dirt cheap and we'd get oil, too. The Iraqis would pay for their own invasion. A hundred thirty thousand troops would be more than enough. It would be over in months. The generals and the State Department were cowards and the press were traitors and the Democrats appeasers. The French and Russians plotted against us, the UN was lying through its teeth. The weapons inspectors were bumbling fools. Everybody was out to get us. You guys were right about everything...except the outcome. A perfect storm of self-righteous, sneering smugness.

The Bush gang was either totally at sea or lying, and so were their supporters. I've finally started to lean towards the latter, thanks to Mr Cheney's latest obscenities.

As the extent of the horror started to unfold, it became more important to save face and pretend everything was on schedule while things fell apart. Saving Neocon Rambo fantasies was what this war was all about, and covering for Cheney and Rumsfeld. Maybe you believe it TB, but no one else does, even half the people in your own party are embarassed and humiliated about how they were suckered into this.

I SUPPORTED this war, remember? I believed my government. I enjoyed every minute of watching all that shock and awe ordnance rain down on those ragheads. THIS time we were going to finish the job and we were going to avenge the dead in New York. I cheered when they rolled into Baghdad and kicked ass. Mission Accomplished!

Then these grinning Vegas sleazebags in Washington made a fool out of me and the rest of the American people as well just to cover their asses. And when things started to unravel, then came the cover ups, the mission creep, the misdirections, the arrogance, the lies, the moving of goalposts...It was the Domino Theory all over again. Have you forgotten? I was IN the last one, remember, I've seen all this crap before. It was "hauntingly familiar", the only difference was that back then the Democrats started it. Other than that, it was dejafuckingvu all over again.
