The new world.

Even as I write this, the world's wealth, even as it dwindles in totality, is being consolidated in the hands of the very, very rich.

The disparities are only going to get greater and my prediction of future gated cities for the wealthy serviced by contractors and companies still making money is getting eerily closer day by day.

The possible futures for this world, and at this time, play out in several very unhappy circumstances for the masses. Wars, famine, revolutions, global poverty are all on the table.

About 20 trillion dollars has been funneled out of the US since September. In the process even the super rich around the world have been damaged in their bottom line - but not in reality. Their remaining wealth is worth so much more now that home & land prices are in freefall.

The end of the world is not nigh. Obama is clueless, but everyone knew that going in. This depression is the result not just of corporate greed and mangerial malfeasance as you would love to believe, but is rather the byproduct of a targeted attack against our national infrastructure by a the real world equivalent of KAOS.

(Likely the inspiration of the bastion of pathos, Daily KOS)

The powers of KAOS are great. We're seeing an unprecedented pulling of the tablecloth underneath the dishes. Some will remain on the table and the rest will come crashing to the ground. Size matters little. The free market if left to its own device without excess interference and regulation should be able to compensate for these shifts. If nationalization of the banks occurs - expect the plan to be a flood of new currency into the markets via these outlets. The "quick fix" being recommended is pumping 20 trillion "new" dollars back into circulation via the nationalized outlets and hoping the dollar sustains its value by doing such cash reinjection covertly. As long as everyone plays along...all should be as it was before. If they don't play along inflation indexes will explode. Economics is like a game of monopoly - and you can adjust the "house" rules so long as you have the players agreement.

Meanwhile, the wealthy are going to be able to buy land, homes, cars and goods at firesale prices and be set even prettier when values return to anything even slightly resembling 2007 levels. So your celebration that this is the unraveling of the "latest self-appointed autocracy" is a bit off the mark.

The middle class is what is being extinguished.

Oh, welcome back...again.
