We cleaned up all that crap thirty years ago.

While you're at it, why not justify OSHA's abuses by asking me if I want children working in the cotton mills?

You know damn well that the environmentalists didn't stop with cleaning up the real pollution, because it wasn't really about cleaning up the environment for them.

My Dad was Pillsbury's environmental scientist. It was his job to test water, make sure things were clean, and make sure the output from Green Giant's factories met all the regulations. I used to go out with him on the rivers taking samples of air and water, and visit the packing plants to make sure everything was working.

In later years, before he retired, he was tired. The rules kept changing, and made no sense. Output levels were set to points where the water was so sterile that it actually harmed the life in the river. Go one direction, and the environmentalists would go in another. The corporation could never do enough.

I tried to explain it to him. "The environmentalists don't want clean water. They want your company dead." He didn't understand that any more than you probably do.

Now they have made the very process of combustion itself a taxable crime, and nobody even blinks. I've seen what these people discuss among themselves. They're just getting started.
