Simple is this:

I am a parent. If I have to keep fiscally bailing my adult children out...I want a say in where that money goes and what they do with it.

I WANT my children to succeed.
It is not going to happen with me helping them....over and over again [for THEIR mistakes.]

I want ..no I NEED to know...if I die tomorrow they will be able to make it. I want them independent, strong, free thinking...capable of surviving on their own.
What the hell good is MY life if I have not been able to teach this to them?

It is all relative. (pun intended)
