Actually, Bowser, I think that the current crop of GOP sock puppets are placeholders, more like opening acts keeping the crowd distracted while the band gets its head together. Their main mission is toss a steady supply of red meat to "the base" (in Arabic, that's pronounced "Al Qa'ida"), but the party bosses understand full well that their Al Qa'ida faction has never been large enough to win elections all by itself. They'll have to find somebody a little less scary to front for them if they expect to fool the American people yet again. And, sad to say, I fear that PT Barnum was right when he observed that nobody ever went broke misunderestimating the American people. Americans will eventually forget the painful lessons taught us by George W. Bush, and Republicans will eventually weasel their way back into positions of power.
