Good point but not the entire picture

I think it's worthwhile to show the abuses of ALL religions as long as it's done fairly.

Here in the United States we're barraged with Christian propaganda telling us its supposed virtues. A link like the one I brought up helps brings balance to that.

Islam however gets almost no good press in this country especially after 9/11. The article ER railed against was piling on, taking a religion that's already attacked heavily here and only pointing to the worst of its adherents.

I shared the website I found because I was blown away at how much historical detail exists down to the individual names of the tortured and executed heretics. What was also shocking was the volume.

I fully acknowledge that religious abuses like that are occurring today and mostly by Muslims but I do not view the cultures that are causing the atrocities with any more disdain than I do of the culture that produced Christian excesses just a century or so ago. I see this all as simply different stages of human societal evolution. Islam got set back years in that process not just because the Koran is more evil than the Bible but largely because they were the constant target of invasion and manipulation from outside forces. That causes a culture to withdraw into itself and close off outside influence. Humans do not prosper when they grow in isolation and the most closed societies are often the most violent and non-productive. My guess is that as we all become more global and the various cultures intermingle more there will be a mellowing of the violent and nationalistic tendencies.

By the way, next time instead of just putting a link up to another topic, why don't you tell us what you feel about a subject. If I hadn't been killing time and bored stiff, I would never have clicked a link with no explanation.
