Everyone is entitled to their opinion but please don't tell me what I am or am not. You may say that you believe a philosophy is invalid but you can't necessarily say a person is or is not a Christian based on their spiritual interpretation of something. I have deep spiritual beliefs, some of which fit in with Christianity and many of which don't. I also inculde a lot of Native American beliefs among mine. Some of my beliefs are more in line with Buddhism. I do not accept all Christian beliefs and, although I am Catholic, have fallen away and detest the idea of the Pope. It's just another old boy's network to keep women from holding any real power and a way to control Church members. Organized religion fills a need for some poeple but mostly it's a hype and a way of controlling people and making money. A truly spiritual religious leader is a rarity.
I interpreted the meaning of the Bible verse according to my spiritual beliefs and that is valid. You interpret according to yours which is also valid--for you. Each to his/her own. Because I interpreted it one way does not make me a Christian. Nor does it make my interpretation invalid. I was told once that if you can see from a high enough perspective, all things become true. When seen from that high perspective, two diametrically opposed beliefs suddenly can have validity. Getting there is half the fun.
