An individual plan can run as low as $50 to $80 a month. The key to lower premiums is higher deductables. You can get plans with no deductable, but the premiums are twice as high, and the coverage isn't nearly as broad.
If it were legal for insurance companies to compete across state lines, you'd be getting a better deal.
