But they had some very good music. With a little time they could have matured into a very good band.
The British Invasion's second wave (the Beatles were the first to storm the beachhead) was a wonderful time. I really loved the fashion of that era, too. The puddin' basin haircuts, the mod suits, the beatle boots.
There was an elegance to that era, men dressed as they have traditionally dressed throughout history, proudly, like dashing, long-locked Cavaliers in brightly colored plumage, shedding the grim Roundhead grays and blacks of Puritan corporate Protestant America.
The time between, say, "Meet the Beatles", and "Sargeant Pepper" was the Interregnum between the Beats and the Hippies. In America, not much was happening artistically or culturally, except in San Francisco.
Unfortunately, by the time most of us learned about what had happened there, it was already over.
