Whether you take a scientific tack and prove the false science or the political/financial motivations for the rape of the US industrial complex, you will be tarred a monster.
Sharyl Attkisson, former CBS investigative reporter, covers it all very well now.

Her breaking ground piece on fake science and the fraud of peer review is worth the time.
If your science makes someone a lot of money you will find peer review very friendly. If not, or if threatens an industry, your work is assailed non-stop and your credibility and motives vilified.
The Saul Alinsky "Rules for Radicals" playbook never goes out of date. Several folks here are textbook examples, based on the way they deal with all they oppose.
Go figure.
