Corruption will occur. Vigilence must be eternal. Just like the war for freedom is never ending. You support the concept of deregulation and avoiding regulation which is central to this mess. I support the bail-out only as a necessary evil and do not approve of the lack of sticks in it. There should have been a few more so that only those that really needed it took it rather than simply using it to boost profits klike several have. Imagine how much longer it would have taken to get paid back if all the salary and bonus caps weren't in there. You seem to have opposed the bail-out and the caps in it based on theoretical principles. Making a bad plan worse is not my mode of operation. I want something that works for people not dogmatic asherence to some theory.
If anti-trust regulations had been enforced we could have afforded to let a lot more of the scoundrels just fail which is what capitalistic principles dictate. Unregulated Capitalism may be the fastest path to short term growth and even average higher growth long term (I doubt it based on crashes), but it is subject to steep crashes. Those crashes destroy lives. There is absolutely no moral principle that says that is a necessary evil just so a few can potentially make more money.

Mark
